Brandies from Lake “Achensee”

The excellent “Kostenzer” distillery, located in the village of Maurach only a few steps away from our hotel, is really worth a visit. For many years, the distillery has produced exquisite brandies and spirits, including the “Alpine Whisky” and the “Achensee” gin

For Special Occasions

The distillery, run by Mr Franz Kostenzer, is award-winning. The business was notably awarded the “Distillery of the Year” label of excellence in 2008.

Museums at Lake “Achensee”

Saint Notburga is still a much venerated personality in the local area for her awe-inspiring life and work. The humble maid, Notburga, who lived in the 13th century, dedicated her life to the poor and needy. The “Notburga” Museum in Eben/Maurach exhibits documents and items that familiarise the visitor with her life.

In the local area there are further museums, which are worth visiting, for example the “Achenseer Museumswelt” in Maurach, a museum which extends  over 8 hectares, the “Sixenhof” Local History Museum, housed in a 650 year old farmhouse, and the museum of the legendary “Tiroler Steinöl” factory.
