Achensee

winter magic

It doesn't always have to be the wild descent and lively fun on the slopes! If you want to leave your skis at home during your winter holiday, you will find numerous alternatives to the classic skiing holiday at Lake Achensee and can experience the snow-covered mountain landscape in a gentle way away from the ski slopes.

Between mountain and lake, on two curves into the valley.

At Lake Achensee, tobogganists can choose between six natural toboggan runs, which guarantee downhill fun for all age groups with a length of 0.8 to 4.8 kilometers. If you don't want to exert yourself too much, you can take the lift to the starting point in Achenkirch or take the "Rodlexpress" uphill in Pertisau. Traffic lights even ensure safety when exiting. The Karwendel cable car can also be used in Pertisau, which takes guests comfortably to the almost five-kilometer-long toboggan run on the Zwölferkopf. Ambitious hikers can walk the 650 meters in about two hours - they will be rewarded with a view of the lake.

Driving through the white fairytale landscape in a horse-drawn sleigh - who doesn't dream of it?

horse-drawn sleigh ride at the achensee

Get in, snuggle up under the warm blanket – and off you go! Snorting, the horses put their harnesses on and trot off in unison: Out into the winter, into the valleys and sometimes even a little way up the mountain. It is a wonderful experience to ride through the snow on a horse-drawn sleigh. The wintry excursion under the sweet jingle of bells of the horse's harness in bright sunshine is particularly beautiful, especially romantic in the evening under the twinkling starry sky. Several providers offer horse-drawn sleigh rides around Lake Achensee. Each of them chooses their own tour and drives guests across country "just like in the good old days": In Pertisau it goes into the Karwendel valleys, in Maurach through the village and in Achenkirch into the Oberautal or through the village.
