Ingrid is the senior director of St. Georg zum See. With a lot of commitment, passion and joy, she successfully led the house into the future together with her husband Hans, then known as Alpenhof St. Georg. Anyone who thinks she would retire is wrong. Grandma Inge, as she is affectionately known today, can still be found in the house every day.

Dear Ingrid, after all these years you are still right in the middle of what is happening in the company. Actually, you could easily retire, but you're still here every day.
That's correct. And I don't do it because I have to, but because I really enjoy it. The contact with the guests at the reception and to help here and there where it is urgent. Standing still would be nothing, it has always been like that.
IT'S ALWAYS BEEN... TELL US ABOUT THE BEGINNINGS OF THE ALPENHOF.
That was an exciting time. We moved here from Sellrain (Gasthaus Rothenbrunn) to Lake Achen in 1992 and bought this hotel. At that time it was a classic alpine house from the 90s. Rather a bit darker in the furniture, the dining room with terracotta-colored tiles on the floor, colorful upholstery and curtains, lots of dark wood, ornate elements, red carpets in the rooms. But there was already an indoor pool and a Finnish sauna. There was no need for rest rooms back then (smile). Hard to imagine today, but absolutely fine for the time. Everything has its time.
AND HERE ARE YOU ALWAYS FULLY INVOLVED IN THE HOTEL?
I was always in the company and worked a lot. My kids don't know any different. Our family life took place here in the middle of the hotel. But I think, and of course I hope, that they didn't lack anything. In the end, I'm still very lucky to be able to be with my children almost every day, and now even with my five grandchildren. That's something special, especially nowadays, when families often live completely scattered around the world.
THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CHANGES IN RECENT YEARS. NOT ONLY THAT YOUR DAUGHTER CATHRIN AND HER HUSBAND TOM HAVE TAKE OVER THE BUSINESS. THE ALPENHOF HAS ALSO CHANGED A LOT.
And how! At that time we still had a lot of bus and group trips. With the first structural changes, changing the name to Hotel St. Georg zum See and the associated marketing, the whole thing has turned around completely. Today we welcome individual travelers who long for a break, who want to eat well, who like to treat themselves to something like a delicious wine or a massage and who love nature and the mountains.
WHAT DO GUESTS ENJOY ESPECIALLY ABOUT YOUR HOUSE?
In addition to our offers such as wellness, but also the possibilities that you can use in the area, the family and relaxed atmosphere here in the hotel always stands out. We are not a 200-bed operation. We are small and fine. We love it personal, honest and real. The guests feel this and appreciate it very much.
