climbing in Karwendel & Rofan
The Rofan is unique in Tyrol because of its variety. Nestled between mighty peaks and the Achensee, the mountain range attracts with both gentle meadows and rugged rock formations, such as the Rosskopf (2,246m) and the Seekarlspitze (2,261m). Even mountaineering legends like Hermann Buhl climbed these walls. The climbing infrastructure in the Rofan has been expanded in recent years. The climbing offer ranges from family-friendly climbing gardens to challenging multi-rope lengths on the Issplatten or climbing routes on the Klobenjoch (2,041m). Climbing enthusiasts can look forward to a lot of variety!
The Karwendel Nature Park encloses almost the entire Karwendel mountains. It is the largest nature park in Austria and, in addition to rare animal and plant species, also offers you a "playing field" made of fantastic rock formations. The climbing area around the Lamsenspitze (2,508m) is known far beyond the mountains. If you want to climb in the Karwendel, you can look forward to both alpine and moderate sport climbing tours. A special Karwendel treat for all experts is certainly the heartbeat of passion on the Sonnjoch (2,458m). It is one of the longest multi-rope routes in the Alps and offers a whopping 1,700 meters of climbing, but this only takes 5 minutes to climb.
